LADY IN SCARLET I stand at the window watching that lady descending those black stairs Her thoughts are a basket of manic desires for nobody ever for her cared She's intent on becoming the master Insisting on taking full control Those memories lashing her dead ego That sorrow long taking its toll And she is wading through depths of dark water She's nobody's wife, she is no one's daughter Her mantra is singeing the face in her mirror A demon of ugly pride has now caught her I weep with the thought of her dark prison I sigh to see her compromised She never knew love from a husband Brutality shining in her eyes And she will destroy them with their passion Desire will eat them all alive This woman who hates their cold heart's freedom is bent to pervert love and contrive And she is laughing at God in heaven Her mind is consumed by pride's hunger She thinks that her rule will go on forever but her reign isn't getting any younger I stand at the window watching that lady ascending her black throne She thinks that she will be loved forever though she stands forever alone She saved her own soul and she lost it Jesus was right to have said she should have let go to God's mercy and trusted in the shepherd who bled And now she is skating next to chaos locked in a path to her demise The smoke of her doom is now before her. and still she does not realize Words, music & audio recording © John Brusseau, 3/24/2026
