THE POOR YOU WILL HAVE WITH YOU ALWAYS
No matter how you struggle
No matter why you strive
This poverty won’t dwindle
until you come alive

Your pattern is forsaken
Your journey’s been suppressed
Your life must be awakened
For you to pass the test

It’s fear that drives your efforts
It’s pride that locks you in
to a prison of this sorrow
and a life where you can’t win

You think the cause is out there
the reason that you’re poor
But you are discontented
It’s not that you need more

Your family and your nation
your people, just like you
will always remain stricken
Until God gets His due
