A CHILD OF WOE

I think this song grew out of a sense that Hitler's meaning for mankind is more than his historical reality. And that part of his meaning for us is to be found in the reality that the same toxic factors that generated his coping mechanisms, that made him need to be a savior just to feel good about himself, is presently at work in our species on a very large scale. We are becoming a species that will soon do great evil and on a correspondingly large scale.

A child of wounding
brutality
Can’t see Jesus
divinity
Born to woe 
conceived in fear
Adolph Hitler
won’t draw near

Pride dies on 
his bitter tongue
Acid lies 
have just begun
He refuses
Jesus’ love
Will not ever 
look above

Anglers fishing 
for a soul
Monsters taking 
full control
Daddy does not
see my tears
And He will not
address his fears

And we are Hitler
on this earth
Way too proud
for Love’s rebirth
We would rather 
taste the swill
of ego’s doom
our bitter pill
