Funny. I mostly just listen to music on YouTube. 🤷🏻‍♀️ sometimes I’ll watch video essays about movies and tv shows. I love video essays when I have the time for them. I’ve made a couple myself about five years ago. Otherwise idk what yall are talking about lol

I just did a search on YouTube for speeches by Charlie Kirk. I wanted to judge for myself where this person was coming from their own words. Youtube has way more videos on the assasination than the very few videos of Charlie's actual speeches. This is an example of the algorithm used by YouTube promotes negative emotions and does because it generates more viewership. Like I said, I did a search after posting this video. I probably will use carefully targeted searches on YouTube, but will probably avoid aimless surfing there. I should also say that I have viewed some wonderful documentaries on YouTube.

Facebook has been shoving me tidbits from his speeches.

I’ve watched a few.

His number one issue is really racism: he has a worldview that is very wrapped up in himself as a white European person. Every other problem I have with him flows from that one singular problem. Everything is all “I’m white how very dare anybody ever say white people do wrong ever! What about Black on Black crime or Black on white crime?! How very dare anybody call white people out for our collective issues?!”

Even his argumentation on abortion for example, skewed into “that’s not how we do that in the West!” And it’s like holy moly why are we bringing in the superiority of western civilization into a debate on abortion?! So he was very convinced western civilization was superior to eastern civilization, America is better than all other countries especially white America, non white immigrants shouldn’t be coming to this country because racial panic, and Black people are inferior to white people when it comes to just about everything.

So when they say he’s a white supremacist, they aren’t kidding that he believed he was superior as a white person.

His misogyny wasn’t anywhere near as severe. There was a radicalized tinge to “falling birth rate” panic, as in white women should have more babies. But more dramatically, his misogyny felt more about the idea he was able to be a better judge for women’s lives than women themselves, albeit again not anywhere near as severe as the level of domination he wanted to visit on non white people. He had this view of women as “priceless jewels to be protected from their own selves and from evil people seeking to take advantage of their feminine daintiness” not that women were evil or needed to be punished, raped, or abused in any way, the way he believed non white people should be totally dominated.

There was a weird racialized vibe again in how he talked about women generally.

That said I wish him great peace, and my universalist heart believes he’s probably deconstructing all the racism behind the scenes and probably gnashing teeth slightly at all the people heroizing him. He has a heavy road to walk but I believe in God’s Grace and Love to overcome things.

As for forgiveness, that’s gonna have to primarily come from immigrants and Black people. I forgive completely anything he’s said that’s hurt me rn, now that it’s all completely in the past. I wish he could’ve seen the light before he died not after.

My Post, REMEMBER, was targeting the attempts to render him a saint by the right legacy media, and a martyr for his faith (instead of possibly a martyr for his politics, which is more likely), and the demonizing of right-leaning people who say hurtful things by the media on the left. We are living in a world descending into insanity. We who follow Jesus need to not get drawn into the insanity now gripping the world by the throat. I like your thoughts, here. They comfort me to hear your love for his soul.

Eeesh, kinda sort of felt like this one was written for me too.

With respect to guarding my gateways, I had to set some stringent rules around my use of it (YouTube). And I find that even with the rules in place I eventually get on the slide and consume too much.

I find that being mindful of the proverbial "car crash" thumbnails help to keep me more intentional about my screentime on the platform and the content I consume when I am on it.

Yeah, I have never been disposed to adopt a shut the whole thing down approach with much of anything. This feels different, and I'm still not clear how far I will go with this. It feels like God is in this for me and is letting me know that this is necessary because of the times we are living in and that there are spiritual forces that have gained control of media outlets to use them purposely to bring an evil agenda to fruition. This is very strange territory for me.

The thing that makes it seem like a real and constant battle for me is that the (Google) YouTube also is almost as advanced as the TikTok algo. The data points are many magnitudes above what currently exists on meta and other social media platforms.

I've instituted some rules for myself, but I haven't gone cold turkey.......yet.
